My pet needs a surgery

Our pets may need surgery for a variety of reasons and we are experienced in a wide range of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. We understand how stressful this time can be for pets and pet parents. We place a strong emphasis on pre-surgical planning and communication to provide a safe and comfortable anesthetic and surgical experience for you and your pet. We provide pre-anesthetic medications to help your pet relax, intravenous fluids for cardiovascular support, and start pain control before the procedure ever begins. Your pet will have three qualified surgery team members monitoring them at all times while they are in our hospital. We will communicate with you in detail upon arrival, directly after the procedure is complete, then again at the time of discharge from our hospital. Constant communication between our staff and you, the client, is ensured to make sure your pet is well cared for through the entire process. Appropriate pain control is always provided following the procedure to make sure everyone is comfortable at home.

Pre and Post Surgery Consultation

Here is a list of some of our more common surgical procedures :

Soft Tissue Surgery for Dogs and Cats

Soft tissue surgery includes procedures that involve internal organs, skin, and soft tissues rather than bones or joints. These surgeries treat a wide range of conditions and can improve comfort, mobility, and long-term health.

Common soft tissue procedures we provide include:

  • Spay (ovariohysterectomy) – prevents pregnancy and reduces risk of mammary cancer and uterine disease
  • Neuter (castration) – prevents unwanted litters and reduces behavior and prostate issues
  • Mass excision (lumpectomy, biopsy) – removal or sampling of lumps or tumors for diagnosis
    Abdominal & Laparotomy Procedures
These surgeries involve the abdomen and internal organs and are often performed to treat illness, remove obstructions, or prevent life-threatening conditions.
    Reproductive & Emergency Surgery
    • Cryptorchid neuter – removal of retained testicles to prevent cancer and hormone-driven issues
    • Pyometra surgery – emergency treatment for life-threatening uterine infection in female dogs and cats
      Gastrointestinal Surgery
      • Foreign body removal – when pets swallow toys, bones, textiles, or other objects
      • Enterotomy / gastrotomy – opening the stomach or intestines to remove material or address disease
      • Resection and anastomosis – removing damaged intestine and reconnecting healthy tissue
      • Internal organ biopsy – sampling organs for diagnostic testing
      Preventative / Corrective Procedures
      • Gastropexy – prevents life-threatening stomach twisting (GDV) in large and deep-chested breeds
      • Colopexy – prevents recurring rectal prolapse

      Hernia & Bladder Procedures

      • Hernia repair (umbilical, inguinal) – correction of abdominal openings through which organs can protrude
      • Cystotomy – removal of bladder stones that cause pain, blood in urine, or urinary blockage
      Perineal & Urogenital Surgery

These procedures address the urinary tract and external genital area, often improving comfort and resolving obstruction or chronic irritation.

      • Anal sacculectomy – removal of anal glands due to infection, abscess, or chronic impaction
      • Perineal urethrostomy (PU) – creates a new urinary opening to prevent recurrent urinary blockages
      • Penile urethrostomy – surgical widening of the urethra to allow normal urination
      • Vulvoplasty – correction of a recessed vulva to reduce chronic infections and skin irritation
      Airway Surgery
Airway procedures help improve breathing in pets — especially brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds such as bulldogs, pugs, and Boston terriers.
      • Stenotic nares repair – widens narrowed nostrils to improve airflow
      • Elongated soft palate resection – removes excess tissue that obstructs breathing during activity and sleep
      • Everted laryngeal saccule removal – clears swollen tissue that blocks the airway and causes snoring or distress
